Logline:
The Family Flea combines comedy and pathos to delve into the contradictions
of impaired relationships, highly charged issues of status and self-worth, and
the burden of an American family's unshakeable legacy.
Synopsis:
The family matriarch Maxine, her husband Conrad and her daughters Charlotte
and Stacy are all involved in the business, a home-based flea market in which
the only item of value is the one thing that's not for sale.
Jessie, Maxine's next-door neighbor, best friend and Monopoly partner, plays
an integral part in the unfolding conflict faced by Maxine and her family. These
two women each carry closely held secrets that could destroy their life-long
friendship.
Maxine has a growing need to pass the business on to one of her daughters, along
with the stone, a mysterious heirloom that she proudly and protectively wears
around her neck.
Inevitable change and provocation arrive in the form of younger daughter Stacy's
new boyfriend from Russia.
With their fates cast between the stone and the Flea, Maxine and her family
meet their greatest challenge. The Monopoly board topples and the stone fulfills
its destiny.
