ANYTHING GOES (1962 Revival)

Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter

Book by Guy Bolton, P.G. Wodehouse, Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse (Revised by Guy Bolton)

Directed by Nino Casisi * Music Directed by Kirk Carson

SHOW SYNOPSIS

Anything Goes,” Cole Porter’s popular screwball comedy featuring dancing, singing, romancing, mistaken identities, and mismatched lovers, will be brought to life on board the S.S. American, a 1930s luxury liner en route to London from New York. On board are: a lovesick stowaway, a brassy nightclub evangelist, a beautiful young debutante and her doting mother, a boozy and lecherous old tycoon, a bumbling gangster disguised as a priest, an ‘English Lord’ with a mysterious past, and a ship full of dancing sailors and high-kicking chorus girls. With music and lyrics by Cole Porter, it features many of his most beloved numbers, including FRIENDSHIP, IT’S DELOVELY, BLOW GABRIEL BLOW, YOU’RE THE TOP, I GET A KICK OUT OF YOU, LET’S MISBEHAVE and the title song, ANYTHING GOES.

Wonder of the World Auditions at the Barn

Submitted by Andy on Mon, 2008-03-24 08:43.

I got this from ATS alum Darren Sextro -- good to see Darren directing again. His "Anne Frank" was a terrific show! AG

I wanted to give you a heads-up about auditions for a play I'm directing for The Barn Players: Wonder of the World by David Lindsay-Abaire (the same guy who wrote Fuddy Meers, Rabbit Hole and Kimberly Akimbo)...a dark comedy that includes a helicopter chase, a recreation of The Newlywed Game, gunplay, and a barrel ride over Niagara Falls. I need seven strong actors (four women, three men) who can deftly handle comedy and are willing to be challenged with an experimental, non-literal production concept.

lady and her friend, Hannah, the matchmaker have
found a "good catch" for Isabel, Sam, the
handsome pickle vendor.

The Characters:
Bubbie-a feisty, sharp-witted woman in
her seventies or early eighties. Must have a
convincing Yiddish accent.

Need a night away? Daniel Doss and friends are performing their annual one night only show at Bar Natasha this Monday night, March 3rd at 8pm.

The good news is that its a free show, no cover charge.
