Crossing Delancey by Susan Sandler
A play from Samuel French, Inc.

Isabel (Izzy) is a modern young woman who lives
alone and works in a book shop. When she is not
pining after the handsome author, Tyler, she is
visiting her grandmother, Bubbie, in Manhattan's
Lower East Side. This delightfully nosey old
lady and her friend, Hannah, the matchmaker have
found a "good catch" for Isabel, Sam, the
handsome pickle vendor.

The Characters:
Bubbie-a feisty, sharp-witted woman in
her seventies or early eighties. Must have a
convincing Yiddish accent.

Isabelle-“Izzy” Grossman, Bubbie’s
granddaughter, in her late twenties or early
thirties.

Hannah-a large woman in her fifties or
older, a professional matchmaker. Must
have a convincing Yiddish accent.

Tyler-handsome, charming and self-
involved; in his forties.

Sam-a pickle man and poet; gentle,
intuitive, appealing and wise; early thirties
or forties.

Auditions will take place at the Olathe
Community Theatre at 500 E Loula, Olathe, KS
66051 on March 24 and 25 from 7:00-9:30 p.m.
With possible call backs Wednesday the 26th.
Show dates: May 9-24.

Auditioners may have a prepared 1-2 minute
monologue. It would be especially helpful for
those auditioning for Isabel, but not
mandatory. Auditions will consist of cold
readings from the script.

Please, have all conflicts available. For
information, you may contact the director, Nancy
Eppert, at nkeppert@comcast.net [1].
