A Kansas City Premier

A play, comprised of first hand accounts, by the victims of Hurricane Katrina, in New Orleans, LA.
Inplay Theatre Company will hold Auditions for several roles, for men, and women of all age groups, races, and ethnicities, on Saturday, April 5, from 2:00 - 5:00 pm, in Allen Hall at St. Mark's Church, at 38th and Troost ( Also located at Mannheim and Troost) in Kansas City, Mo. The play is a collection of actual accounts, and interviews of the forgotten victims of Hurricane Katrina, in New Orleans, LA. To this day, New Orleans' poorest citizens are still dispersed across the United States, and the Ninth Ward in New Orleans remains in a state of destruction, and despair. STORM STORIES, recounts their stories.
STORM STORIES highlights the sense of loss, and despair, experienced by New Orleans residents, when they realize that their country has forgotten them. The play also spotlights the courage and resilience of the citizens of New Orleans, who manage to survive against a backdrop of government neglect, and indifference. Ultimately, the play is a tribute to the courage of the forgotten victims, of a national natural tragedy.
InPlay is seeking actors ranging in age from 17 to Seniors. Male, and female actors of all races, and ethnicities are encouraged to audition.
THIS PLAY CALLS FOR A MULTIRACIAL CAST.
The play will be directed by InPlay Artistic Director - Jacqee Gafford, and Penelope Weiner - Assistant Professor, and Playwright - Washburn University, Topeka, KS.
Judy Mason is a well known contemporary playwright, and screenwriter of such stage plays as A STAR AIN'T NOTHIN' BUT A HOLE IN HEAVEN, DONNY'S HOUSE, MY MONKEY DON'T DRINK HOT CHOCOLATE, screenplays of movies such as, SISTER ACT II, and TV scripts such as the PBS series, I'll FLY AWAY.
STORM STORIES will open at Just Off Broadway Theatre, at 31st, and Central in Kansas City, and runs, June 6th through June 14th.
All Auditions will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church at the corner of 38th(Mannheim), and Troost, on Saturday April 5th at 2:00 - 5:00 pm in Allen Hall. Please enter Allen Hall from the 38th (Mannheim) Street side of the Church.
Rehearsals will take place at St. Marks Lutheran Church starting Thursday, May 1st. Rehearsals are held in the evening from 7:00 pm to 10pm.

Actors should prepare a two to three minute dramatic monologue. They will also be asked to read from the script.
