AUDITIONS: Saturday, November 8th from 1:00pm - 4:30pm
at Colonial Church of Prairie Village at 73rd and Mission in Prairie Village, KS

Auditions are on a walk-in basis, so no appointment is necessary. Students in grades 7-12 are eligible to audition. Due to the nature of this production, we regret that no students in grades K-6 will be eligible to audition for GODSPELL. We encourage those students to audition for our summer production of DISNEY'S THE JUNGLE BOOK.

Auditioners should have 32 measures of a musical theatre piece prepared. It is strongly suggested that students bring piano sheet music for their audition. An accompanist will be provided. We strongly discourage a'capella auditions due to the additional challenge it places on the student auditioning. Tapes and CDs will NOT be allowed. Students may also be asked to sing the first verse of "Over the Rainbow" to help illustrate range and technique. A short cold reading from the script may also be a part of the audition.

Students should also come dressed for a short movement exercise. There is choreography in GODSPELL, but it is not expected that students necessarily have any dance training. All choreography will be matched to the skill level of those that are cast.

CALLBACKS: There will be no Callbacks for this production.

LOCATION: Colonial Church of Prairie Village

SYNOPSIS: Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, and featuring a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz, "Godspell" boasts a string of well-loved songs, led by the international hit, "Day By Day." As the cast performs "Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All For The Best," "All Good Gifts," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side," the parables of Jesus Christ come humanly and hearteningly to life.

Drawing from various theatrical traditions, such as clowning, pantomime, charades, acrobatics and vaudeville, "Godspell" is a groundbreaking and unique reflection on the life of Jesus, with a message of kindness, tolerance and love.

NOTES:

Rehearsals will be held (generally) Monday - Thursday from 6:00pm - 9:00pm and Saturdays from 1:00pm - 4:00pm, with exceptions for holiday breaks, final exams and the State Thespian Conference.
